Message to Doctors - Lion Rocker Interventional Physiotherapy
We Are an Interventional Physiotherapy Service
At Lion Rocker Health, we provide physiotherapy that emphasis on hands-on intervention and modalities therapy
We recognize a consistent gap in real-world practice:
Patients often want and benefit from meaningful improvement in pain, movement, and function that they can feel and see.
Most physiotherapy practices provide exercise biased appointments which lack the immediate feedback to patients.
Why This Matters
Patients do not experience healthcare in 6–12 month outcome measures.
They experience it in real time:
Can I sleep tonight?
Can I work tomorrow?
Can I move without pain this week?
When early improvement occurs, patients are more likely to:
Engage with rehabilitation
Participate in exercise programs
Maintain confidence in recovery
Our Approach Emphasises on Treatments
We emphasize on:
Hands-on treatment (manual therapy, dry needling, mobilisation, soft tissue techniques)
Technology and modalities (shockwave, ultrasound, electrotherapy)
Traditional therapy (acupuncture, cupping, scraping)
Once symptoms improve, it gives our physiotherapists more leverage to introduce:
Education and self-management strategies
Progressively active rehabilitation planning
Our goal is simple:
Help patients feel better, move better, and function better — supporting long-term recovery for those who wish to.
The Reality: Exercise requires behavioural change and resources
Exercise is extremely effective — but only if performed consistently.
However:
Exercise does not usually improve pain immediately
Even when effective, it requires time, consistency, and behavioural change
Many patients do not adhere to exercise programs despite best intentions
In the real world:
Physiotherapy is relatively expensive and often under-funded
Evidence-based exercise programs in research often involve frequent supervision, reassessment, and progression over 12+ weeks
This contrasts with limited subsidised care (e.g. EPC caps) and partial private health rebates
This gap between evidence conditions and real-world delivery often leads to a mismatch in expectations and outcomes.
Patient Choice and Shared Care
Ultimately, we believe treatment should be guided by patient preference, clinical need, and shared decision-making.
At Lion Rocker Health, we are not replacing exercise-based care. We focus on providing effective interventions when they are needed, while using exercise as a supportive tool where appropriate. This allows us to tailor treatment to each patient's preferences, goals, and clinical needs.
This is similar to broader medical practice:
Evidence supports lifestyle modification and exercise for many conditions
Doctors may recommend exercise and education while still prescribing medication when appropriate
Patients may also be referred for corticosteroid injections or specialist orthopaedic review when clinically indicated
Lion Rocker Physiotherapists operate within the same clinical reality.
We provide intervention-focused care designed to reduce symptoms, improve movement, and restore function, with exercise and education used as supportive strategies where appropriate, tailored to the individual patient.
We also continue to strongly encourage:
Active lifestyle
Exercise-based rehabilitation
Education and self-management
We believe this is patient-centred, outcome-focused, and pragmatic.
For Referring GPs
We understand that our position as a hands-on, treatment-based physiotherapy service may appear controversial, particularly given the strong influence of research supporting exercise-based therapy as the gold standard.
Nevertheless, it is a reality that many doctors have seen patients return from physiotherapy unchanged, still in pain, and reporting that the treatment made little difference.
We are hoping to connect with like-minded doctors who value the benefits of a hands-on approach and, more importantly, the role it can play in supporting behavioural change and helping people move toward a more active, self-managed lifestyle.
We look forward to working with doctors like you and welcoming their referrals.
We welcome referral from various funding sources
Private referral (Private Health Fund rebate available)
GPCCMP (Gap payable when advanced treatment provided)
